Kerki

A finely woven Kerki Turkmen rug from the Amu Darya region. Against a soft ivory-cream field, rows of small madder-red and aubergine guls create the dense, disciplined repeat that collectors associate with Kerki weaving.

The wide end borders break into a band of polychrome motifs in coral, sage and deep blue, and the piece is finished with hand-knotted fringe. The lighter ground makes this rug unusually easy to place in a contemporary room.

Care
